Body Liposuction: Case 9 (20145)
Description
This 40's woman is a returning patient of Dr. Graham. She is happy with her breast augmentation from 10 years ago, but she wants to improve the contour of her mid-section. Specifically she wants a more defined, more" hour-glass" figure. She tried a non-invasive fat reduction technique elsewhere (heat-based) and didn't see adequate results. She has a normal BMI, stands 5' 9" and weighs 145#. Weight loss is not going to change actual fat distribution -- but liposuction can, and permanently. Her abdominal muscle tone was good and her tummy skin was not loose; therefore tummy tuck was not indicated. Our suggested operative plan was liposuction (suction assisted lipectomy) of the abdomen and flanks, treating the torso circumferentially, to give her the best waist definition. The procedure was done in our nationally accredited office surgical suite under anesthesia, including tumescent anesthesia to post-op comfort and optimal intra-op conditions. The procedure removed a total of 1,250ml of fat. The post-op care consisted of 1-2 weeks in our surgical garment and another 2-3 weeks in Spanx. She was able to return to work in less than one week. We typically see our post-op patients at weeks 1, 3, 9 and 6 & 12 months, plus encourage any extra visits to check progress and answer any questions.
