Body Mommy Make-Over: Case 6 (19509)
Description
This 35 year old mother of two was ready for contouring her torso, after earlier having a great experience with breast reduction by Dr. Graham. Combining breast, tummy tuck and liposuction is often called a "mommy make-over," working to restore pre-pregnancy tone and contours. She wanted a tummy tuck to reduce the large amount of hanging loose skin (known clinically as the pannus) and liposuction to reduce the back and bra line bulges. She had lost 10 pounds, but felt that she was unlikely to loose significantly more weight. Our recommendation was circumferential body contouring using liposuction for her back, bra line, and flanks combined with abdominoplasty. Her procedure was performed in our nationally accredited in-house surgery facility, under general anesthesia, as an out-patient. During surgery, Dr. Graham discovered a wide diastasis (muscle separation) and a small hernia, which were repaired. The ellipse of skin and fat removed extended from hip to hip and from pubis to above her belly button, and weighed several pounds. An additional 1,550 ml of fat was removed during the liposuction. Recovery was typical. Compression girdle was used for the first 3-4 weeks. She was going out to dinner in 10 days postop and went on a cruise 3 months after surgery. She needed steroid injection of the belly button scar to help it soften. She was happy to share her results with other potential patients.
