Body Buttock Enhancement: Case 7 (31212)
Description
This 27 yo woman consulted with Dr. Graham to improve her torso, waist and buttocks. She wanted a slimmer more hour-glass waistline. She wanted a slimmer tummy without a tummy tuck, although she realized she might also benefit from tummy tuck skin tightening in the future. In her situation, Dr. Graham recommended liposuction to remove unwanted fat from her abdomen and flanks (waistline). These areas would give the most improvement for her money. Tummy tuck wouldn't typically be recommended until after childbearing. The procedure was performed in our nationally accredited in-house surgical facility under anesthesia. We use a technique called SSBA or safe subcutaneous buttock augmentation. We removed almost 2,000ml of unwanted fat. Full buttock enhancement by grafting her fat used 1,130ml, a little more than 550ml graft on each side. No implant was used. Her recovery was typical. She stopped pain medication post-op day three. She slept on her sides and minimized sitting. On her first post-op visit she said "I'm really pleased with the shape of my hips." Edema (swelling within the tissues) occurs in the treatment areas, and subsides during the second and third weeks. Full activity including exercise was resumed three weeks after surgery. These "after" photos show her results at about 3 months. P.S. Many websites and plastic surgeons use the term BBL or Brazilian Butt Lift to describe this same procedure. Dr. Graham prefers the acronym SSBA as more descriptive and accurate. Another relevant term is Lipo360 which is removal of fat all the way around one's midsection, and is a common procedure for our patients, although we don't use this internet term very often.
