Ear Correction / Otoplasty: Case 2 (22395)
Description
This 20 year old woman had prominent ears and decided to discuss correction with Dr. Graham. Examination revealed normal hearing and excellent general health. The external ear (pinna) showed insufficient development of the anti-helical folds, which causes the rim to protrude outward. A surgical solution to create a more normal fold was suggested. The procedure, post-op care (elastic headband), return to work and simple restrictions were discussed. Risks were discussed. She chose to have the procedure awake, under local anesthesia. Her recovery was smooth and her remark at one month follow-up was, "Awesome. I love them."
