Breast Nipple & Areola : Case 4 (12177)
Description
This 54 year old woman was referred by her oncologic breast surgeon for discussion of immediate bilateral breast reconstruction. Dr. Graham reviewed her health, lifestyle, risk factors, surgical options and she chose tissue expander-implant reconstruction. Mastectomy and tissue expander placement were scheduled at the same time, a few months later reconstructive implants were placed (out-patient), and then nipple reconstruction followed by areola pigmentation (tattoo). Her nipple was created from small skin flaps raised from the adjacent skin. The latter procedures were performed in our office under local anesthesia, and required no down-time.
