Facial Eyelid Surgery / Blepharoplasty: Case 12
Description
This 30 year old woman consulted Dr. Graham about her lower eyelid "bags" and the double chin. Obviously, these were not caused by aging. She probably inherited these features from her parents. She facial skin was in good shape. She was at an excellent body weight. She had not gained and lost significant weight. She was in good health. She was an excellent candidate for procedures that could improve her appearance. Dr. Graham evaluated her concerns and offered some alternatives. There were non-surgical options for her chin and neck. The only non-surgical option for her lower lids was not optimal. Tear trough filler (HA or hyaluronic acid) would partially blunt the groove below the bags, but their convexity was not going to go away. The recommendation at the end of the consultation was combining lower eyelid blepharoplasty with submental liposuction. This gave her a single procedure that dealt with both areas at the same time, combined the procedure and reduced downtime. The excess fat was removed through the recess behind the lower eyelid (transconjunctival) approach. There was not external incision (scarless blepharoplasty). She was able to return to work in one week and resumed exercise in 3 weeks. Her post-op photos show the results after several months of recovery. She wants other potential patients to see the how these two procedures can subtly improve one's appearance in a very natural way.
