Male Breast / Gynecomastia: Case 5 (20725)
Description
This 19 year old man consulted other plastic surgeons before choosing Dr. Graham, to treat his gynecomastia (male breast over-development). This had been present since puberty, showing no sign of regressing on its own. He had not been exposed to any medications or chemicals which have breast development side effects. He was fit, lean and not at all over weight. He had no signs of hormone imbalances or hormone secreting tumors. His primary care doctor had not found any other abnormalities. He did not like the visible fullness along the lower pectoral muscles beneath the nipple and areolas. In his case, we recommended removal of the excessive breast tissue rather than liposuction, although liposuction is used to refine the contour at the time of removal. The incision was along the lower edge of the areola. The photos show the size of the specimen. A small suction drain tube is used to prevent build up of serum for several days. Afterward, his chest shows excellent definition and contour. He commented after our consultation that our office and approach were "more professional and responded more quickly than other offices." He remarked that he was "very happy with the results," and definitely would refer other potential patients. He was willing to have his photos shown to other patients to help them make their decision to get the best chest appearance.
