Breast Reduction: Case 30
Description
This 40 yo woman was tired of the discomfort caused by her overly large breasts. She was referred by her primary care physician and one of our prior breast reduction patients. She was 5' 5' and 170#, wearing 36 F-G bras. She wanted a size more appropriate for her body, suggesting possibly a D cup. She was previously diagnosed with fibrocystic breast disorder, had 3 children without breast-feeding, had a distant relative with breast cancer, and her recent mammogram was normal. Her symptoms included slumped posture, problems with clothing fit, need for special bras, interference with exercise, pain the upper back, neck and shoulder muscles, sore breasts, and need to wear a bra constantly for relief. Her procedure was done at one of our local hospital out-patient facilities. Her recovery was smooth and she returned to work within 2 weeks. At her 2 month follow-up visit she remarked "I am super pleased." And later added, "Best Decision Ever!"
