Breast Reduction: Case 33 (31839)
Description
This 29 year old black woman was referred to Dr. Graham by her family practice doctor for reduction to alleviate the pain she experienced from large, heavy breasts. She had chronic, daily pain including her shoulders, her upper back, and the base of her neck. She felt pulling around her chest. Her bra dug into her skin. She would get raw break-outs under her breasts. She had 3 children. No close family members had had breast disease and her breast tissue exam was normal. Her bras were size 42 H, although DDD was the largest size she could buy in most retail stores. She requested a C cup size after surgery. She was 5' 2" and 209#. She was a non-smoker and worked in medical offices. After reviewing the above and physical examination we recommended breast reduction surgery. During surgery we removed 1140 grams of excess breast tissue (over 5 pounds). At 4 1/2 months post-op she is feeling tremendous relief of her many symptoms. Her incisions are healing very well. She went shopping and is down to a size 38 D cup. Both her band size and her cup sizes decreased several sizes. Her testimonial, "I can't thank you enough." We thank her for trusting us to help her.
